19 Sep 2021**Aaron Drummond wins Sykes Cup marathon**

In a match lasting nearly 4 hours Aaron Drummond (+33) finally overcame James Pears (+16) 3-2 to win the 2019/2020 Sykes Cup.
With both players well supported, it was James who settled first, wiping out the deficit and gaining a useful lead, but Aaron battled back and sank a pressure black to claim the first frame 80-75. To James' credit he put the first frame loss behind him and took control of the next two frames winning 87-56 and 81-38 to take a 2-1 lead. Half way through the fourth frame James had clawed back the handicap deficit and looked to be heading for a 3-1 victory but Aaron dug in and fought back to win 101-73 and make it 2-2.
In a tense final frame James couldn't quite get his nose in front and Aaron played risk free snooker to grind out a 81-48 win which gave him the match 3-2.
Many Thanks to Andy Kitson for officiating and to the NSC for use of the facilities.

17 Sep 2021**Ryan Walton is 2019/20 Leeds Amateur Snooker Champion**

Ryan Walton defeated an out of sorts Liam Thewlis 4-0 to win the delayed Leeds Singles title.
Walton settled first and a 34 break gave him an early lead. Thewlis had a chance late in the frame but a missed black off the spot proved costly and Walton won the first frame 58-24.
Thewlis was in first in the second frame with a 32 break but Walton fought back and it was anybody's frame going into the colours. Thewlis had first chance but missed an easy brown to give Walton the frame 63-50. From that point it was pretty much one way traffic with Walton clinching the next two frames 72-22 and 57-4 for a 4-0 victory and his first Leeds Singles title.
Thanks to Andy Kitson for officiating and to the NSC for use of the match table and inteval buffet.

14 Sep 2021**Sanderson Lam/Lewis Gillen are Leeds Pairs Champions**

Sanderson Lam and Lewis Gillen defeated Tommy Doherty and Ryan Walton 3-2 to win the 2019/2020 Leeds Pairs title.

Breaks of 29 from Gillen and 28 from Lam gave them a 49 point lead with 3 reds remaining in the first frame. Doherty then took all 3 reds, 2 blacks and a pink, followed by yellow, green and brown before missing the blue which proved costly, Lam/Gillen eventually winning 68-45.
Doherty then made amends with a 40 break in the 2nd frame which helped him and his partner to a 63-32 win to make it 1-1.
A 27 break from Sanderson Lam helped the NSC duo to a 2-1 lead before Ryan Walton chipped in with a 29 break to help level matters at 2-2.
In the deciding frame it was Lam again this time with a run of 45 which proved decisive in settling the match 3-2.

Thanks to Andy Kitson for officiating and to the NSC for use of the match table.

This Friday sees the best of 7 Leeds Singles final between Ryan Walton and Liam Thewlis.

14 Sep 2021**PRESENTATION NIGHTS - 17/09/21 & 13/10/21**

To conclude the long overdue 2019/20 season, the presentation of annual trophies and individual awards will be done in two stages, as it has since 2017/18.

17/09/21 - first off this coming Friday at the NSC, during the interval of the LCC singles final between Ryan Walton and Liam Thewlis, the presentation of trophies and prizes will take place for the LCC pairs, team, and both junior events - U.16 & U.18. Paul Marlow will conduct proceedings.

13/10/21 (Wednesday) - the main presentation will take place at the Bramley Band Club - a week before the start of the 2021/22 season.
With no captain's meetings possible due to obvious reasons, it was NOT possible to vote for the venue this year as we normally do. Therefore, the committee chose the venue on this occasion, more as a 'safe bet' really, with the Bramley Band holding the event more than once in recent times. We will revert back to the voting process for next year, providing circumstances allow of course.
Doors will open around 7pm as normal on the night of the presentation.
If you are all like us, we are very eager to get back to normal and to start the new season again, so to see a full turn out the week before at the presentation for 2019/20 would be tremendous.
One difference this year, will be cash prizes only (apart from the league trophies which were ordered last year). The main reason for this is because most of the competitions are still to be completed taking us right up to the night itself, so there is no other option this year. That said, there are some very substantial cash prizes on offer, so please make sure you attend to collect them.

The committee would like to officially thank the Northern Snooker Centre and Bramly Band Club for staging our presentation nights, and we all look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on both occasions - especially ALL prize winners.
