26 Nov 2021**DENNIS JOHN PATERSON - RIP**We have recently been informed, about the sad passing of Dennis John Paterson a few months ago.
Some of you may just remember Dennis, many of you will not have come across Dennis at all.
He hasn't played for a number of years now, but when he did, Dennis was a larger than life character who played both Billiards and Snooker for many many years in the LBSO and the L&DB&SL before that, concentrating more on the 3-ball game towards the end of his playing time.
Our condolences and best wishes go to Dean and his family at this sad time.
Bob Patterson - on behalf of the LBSO Management Committee.

New handicaps come into force from Monday 22nd November.
We are now into the 4th week of handicap reviews some players have had more than one adjustment due to their good/poor performance also we have at least one player who has had a manual adjustment rather than a computer generated recommendation, the manual adjustment is to try to prevent "yo yo" handicapping where players go up and down by the same amount. The aim of the handicap system is to find a handicap for players that is consistent to their ability.
There has also been one player given an additional points adjustment.
This player was put off 40 as a new player but it was brought to my attention he needed to be off a larger handicap than the maximum 40 new starter handicap, so I have tried to address this by giving more than suggested by the computer recommendation.
There are other players who are being monitored and if required will be adjusted accordingly.

All the teams that are active have the correct data showing.
The first handicap review has now taken place for the 2021/22 season.
Here is a brief outline of the handicap criteria.
If a player wins/loses 4 frames by a winning/losing margin of +/- 25 points per frame a handicap review will take place.
The amount of adjustment is dependant on the win/loss margin.
If a player has a 6 frame win/loss margin they will have a handicap review whatever the win/loss points margin is.
The first adjustment for any player will be decided by the websites automatic recommendation if it is the second or more adjustment it is done manually to try to find "middle ground" for the players handicap rather than going up and down by the same amount this is to prevent players "yo yo" handicap adjustments.
