08 Oct 2021**New Wortley Labour win season finale**

New Wortley Labour overcame a resilient Main Line Social to win the Stan Brooke Team event...

Frame one saw Gary Daniels (36) come up against Peter Priestley (34) of Main Line Social and not for the first time this week the centre table at NSC proved too difficult for both players, neither really scoring anything of significance, but it was Gary of New Wortley that ran out a 76 - 66 winner.

Frame two started pretty much like frame one, this time it was Aaron Drummond (33) up against Gareth Priestley (12) who for the second time this week never got to grips with his game or the table. Again, no clear pots of succession, but it was current Sykes Cup winner Aaron that rallied some pots at the end to bring an hours long frame to an end and to increase the overall lead for New Wortley Labour winning 81 – 48

Frame three and Martin McGuigan (4) was giving a 23 point start to Nathan Daniels (27) knowing he had to reduce to gap to give any hope of his number 1 Lee Atkinson a fighting chance to win. It was Nathan who was quick out of the blocks, and probably the most impressive player on the night, adapting to the table well and rallied in breaks 14 and 25 early in the frame. But Martin battled back well and took the game to Nathan, although losing the frame he reduced the deficit, but Nathan came out in favour 81 – 59

So, with a 65-point advantage going into the last frame and a handicap start of 16 it meant Lee Atkinson (-19) of Main Line Social had to get his game head on to win this match over Mick Collins (-3) of New Wortley Labour. Lee was quick in his stride, slowly reducing the gap with small visits at the table. The pressure was mounting on Mick and the crowd were getting over exciting at times. So, going down to the colours and the gap was just 16 in favour of New Wortley, with everything to play for. With the tension mounting, Mick was trying hard to find that decisive pot to win the match. It went backwards and forwards on many occasions, but it was Mick that finally potted the last couple of colours to win the match, much to the delight of the teams’ supporters.

Thanks to NSC for providing excellent playing facilities and to our resident referee over the last couple of weeks Andy Kitson for officiating so professionally throughout.

07 Oct 2021**Bruntcliffe duo seal Len Lee Pairs**

Frame 1:
The opener showed promise early on with some good cueing and potting from both sides, although both pairings struggled to string any major scoring together. The Rennison duo were stronger towards the end of the frame eventually taking that first frame 76-58, following the concession on the Blue from the Bruntcliffe pairing the score was 1-0 Harehills.
Frame 2:
A scrappy second frame followed with both teams struggling with centre table, The Jennings and Clarke duo coming through eventual winners 67-25 and levelling the frames at 1-1.
Frame 3:
Once again all four players struggled to settle down and following a 21 break by Sean Jennings early on in the frame, they managed to keep the now 40 point lead towards the end of the frame eventually winning the frame 76-37, and more importantly a 2-1 lead.
Frame 4:
The Rennison duo started well, not only clawing back the handicap start but going in front with just the colours remaining. Adam potted a fantastic cut yellow into the middle, and took the green and the brown also, with Gareth taking the blue and pink on his next visit to win the frame 70-54 and bring the scores level at 2-2.
Frame 5:
The deciding frame saw the Rennison duo struggling to make up the handicap start, and following a foul that saw the black which was hanging over the pocket getting potted as Gareth was attempting to roll the object ball onto it. This resulted in the defining moment of the frame as it swung in favour of the Bruntcliffe pairing who won the final frame 69-46 and more importantly the match 3-2.

Well done to both pairings for reaching the final, with congratulations to Sean Jennings and Simon Clarke as winners.

Big thanks once again to the NSC for use of the centre match table, and congratulations to Andy Kitson our referee for the evening for officiating the match to a very high standard.

06 Oct 2021**Morley WMC

Morley WMC "B" defeated Adel Memorial "A" 5-3 to take the Champion of Champions title.

The key match was at no 4 where despite starting the stronger, Adel's Brian Chambers couldn't claw back the hefty 33 start he was giving to Morley's Jon Payne going down 2-0, 62-89, 56-87. The other 3 matches were all drawn , Craig Merrick v Garry Payne 55-78, 80-48, Michael Atkinson v Darren Rogers 22-53,64-34 and Sonny Sandhu v Murray Przybyl 61-22,41-77.

Many Thanks to referees Michael Davenport and Andy Kitson, and to all at Farsley Cons for their hospitality.

05 Oct 2021**Reminder**

Just a reminder that the final of the Len Lee Pairs will be held tonight at NSC, 19.30, start time.

05 Oct 2021**Andy Farrally takes the title**

Andy Farrally of Bramley WMC claimed the Stan Brooke singles title over Gareth Priestley of Main Line...

Receiving 16 start per frame, the match started very slowly with both players trying to adapt to the playing conditions. Both players struggling to put a few shots together but it was Gareth that closed the first frame out to reduce the 16 points arrears 58 - 58

The second frame pretty much followed the the pattern of the first frame, although a flurry of pots were shared throughout it was Gareth again taking the initiative and clearing the colours from the brown to win the frame by 16 points. 72 - 56

So with the final frame all to play for and because of the current scores it meant it was a level match going into this frame... It was now Andy that started the more positive and now started to find his game potting some excellent balls and finding a series of mini breaks put the pressure back on Gareth, although chances were there it wasnt to be and Andy sealed the win. 17 - 67.

Thanks to NSC for providing excellent playing facilities and of course to Andy Kitson for officiating.
