31 May 2023**Tinshill and Cookridge "C" are Champion of Champions"**

Tinshill and Cookridge "C" defeated Belle Isle WMC "D" 5-4 in tonight's C of C final.

The first 4 frames were shared. Tinshill's Tony Booth (19), drawing with Belle Isles' Malcolm Timblin (39) 48-86, 93-67, and Joel Smith (19) sharing the frames with Paul Whittaker (18) 72-64, 35-71.

Tinshill then went 4-2 up before being pegged back to 4-4. Mike Lacey (10) 61-36, 57-59 v Scott Morgan (14), and Josh Armstrong (-3) 70-35,37-69 v Joe Crossthwaite (-9).

So it was left to Josh and Joe to play the decider and it was nip and tuck before Joe was unlucky in knocking the blue in the centre pocket when playing a safety shot. Josh stepped up and potted Green, Brown and Blue putting himself 17 in front with just Pink and Black left, and when Joe inadvertently potted the Pink in attempting a snooker it was all over. (60-49).

Many thanks to Farsley Cons for hosting the final and to referees Michael Davenport and Andy Kitson.

24 May 2023**Tinshill duo take the Len Lee Pairs Title!**

Tinshill pairing of Pattinson/Smith come back from the brink of defeat to claim the Len Lee Pairs title!

The Rothwell pairing of Rayner/Aveyard were giving a 26 start per frame start to the Tinshill duo of Pattinson/Smith. All players struggled in the first frame, but going onto the colours, Smith potted the last red with green and looked like the first frame was won when he fluked yellow and then potted green, but when the simple brown was agonisingly missed, up stepped Aveyard to clear the colours to take the first frame on the black. 60 – 53

Next frame started with a similar pattern, scrappy and very edgy to say the least. But Rayner then complied as series of mini breaks and then a further fluked colours the frame eased into the Rothwell parings favour to lead 2-0. 80 – 44

Third frame created a bit more excitement for the vast crowd on the evening. Again, lots of missed opportunities in the frame by all players when firmly in the balls, but Rayner crafted a nice 23 break before breaking down. The frame then had a series of snookers, foul n misses which resulted in Pattinson/Smith needing the final 3 colours to force a re-spot. It came to the black and Rayner had two golden opportunities to pot the black and seal the win. The snooker gods were with the Tinshill pairing as they forced the re-spot. A bout of safety then followed, Smith then had to chance to reduce the deficit, to which he delivered 2-1 game on! 67 – 74

Frame 4 again started with the same theme of missed opportunities, balls missed everywhere. But the Tinshill pairing were holding firm and 4pts in front with the last red remaining. Onto the colours and it was Pattinson/Smith gaining to upper hand potting the final colours to level the match and set the rapturous crowd off 2-2. 59 – 79

Deciding frame and it was Pattinson/Smith starting the more brightly opening a good lead, Aveyard responded with a couple of mini breaks, which should have been much higher. A furthermore chances went begging for all 4 players and the frame was poised going onto the colours. With a couple of good snookers laid by Pattinson/Smith they forced the errors and up stepped Pattinson to smash in the last red followed by green and then the colours and looked like he was going to clear but missed simple blue. That didn’t matter as the frame was all done and dusted to create a remarkable comeback.

Thanks to Andy Kitson for officiating and NSC for use of the match table.
